Burials (from Sir Francis Bacon’s “New Atlantis,” 1626)

New Atlantis, by Sir Francis Bacon

We have burials in several earths, where we put diverse cements, as the Chinese do their porcelain. But we have them in greater variety, and some of them more fine. We have also great variety of composts, and soils, for the making of the earth fruitful.

Sir Francis Bacon: The New Atlantis, 1626
